“BEST Leadership has empowered me with new learning’s and insights into leadership and strategy. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey thus far and grateful to be part of this group that have forged close friendships along the way. It’s humbling to be given the opportunity to learn from our extinguished guest speakers and share different strategies and leadership techniques with others from the cohort on this course.

The field work visiting different organisations was a fantastic experience meeting senior leaders in each organisation sharing their strategies on leadership.

This is an innovative course which is interactive and has taken me outside of my comfort zone, to explore new techniques for leadership in work and in my personal life.”

“I am a child of God and in his name I will serve him and strive for excellence with integrity.

Having been born in to a blessed family I give thanks to those who have contributed to my journey of learning through my past and current lifetime. It is a privilege to be in the current space of experiences and to accept and continue the teachings and guidance of my tupuna. I am grateful and value the gifts of love, care, knowledge, loyalty, trustworthy, honesty, reliable, education, motherhood, daughter, aunty, friend and contributor I have received and I pledge that I will continue to offer my knowledge and skills and more to the community as a whole and the learners of today’s world.

I am thankful that my nuclear and extended family’s has allowed me the space and time to travel my journey and could not be where I am today without them and their love, prayers and guidance. I pay tribute to my ancestors, parents, husband, children, sisters, brothers, teachers, leaders, family and more for trusting me to do what I can within this time.

I will take one step at a time to appreciate what I have been blessed with and with gratitude I say oue tulou, oue tulou, oue tulou.”

The BEST Leadership Journey has been challenging but definitely rewarding. It has enhanced me as a person both professionally and personally. The program pushes you into the “uncomfortable” but after completing the workshops the “uncomfortable” becomes the “comfortable”. It is a Leadership program that allows you to grow but still remain Pasifika.”

“The BEST Pasifika Leadership Course has helped me achieve my short term goals through business and also in life. The staff have not only been helpful throughout the duration of the course, but they are also very supportive. The course really does challenge you as an individual which is something that I needed. A wise person said to me “Get comfortable with the unknown, and only then shall you know your true potential”. I see this course being a major stepping stone in my career/life and highly recommend this to anyone.”

  • - I am grateful that I knew my purpose at an intermediate age which provided clarity of the “why” I want to be my definition of success.

  • - I am grateful that I now can start with the “how” I can achieve my definition of success.

The BEST Pasifika Leadership Programme is instrumental to the growth of Pasifika leaders. To witness the importance in a Pasifika way is crucial to the leader I aspire to be. The greatest benefit is to be coached by the best in the country (Professor Brad Jackson, Roseann Gedye and Dr Selina Marsh ‘alphabetical order’).

The main driving force behind its success is the drive and passion of our Leader Beatrice Faumuinā and whanau. Her true sense of service leadership is something that was portrayed through her words and actions.

The three elements that were combined in the Programme were the skill set “People Management by Roseann Gedye,” mind set “Organisational Leadership by Professor Brad Jackson” and heart set “Leadership and Poetry by Dr Selina Marsh.” The hands, head and heart (also known as the 3H’s) are the key areas covered to enhance us Pasifika leaders in a Pasifika way.

With all these practical and dynamic resources combined this with putting 18 Pasifika leaders from NZ organisations’ together, is a true recipe for success. Once served could fill even the biggest of appetites.

“The BEST Pasifika Leadership Programme has shown me smarter ways of working and thinking, has increased my skills and knowledge at work as a leader and as a mother.

Some areas were challenging for me but with the support from my Cohort 2012 it has been an amazing journey that I will never forget; this stretches me to the limits but loving every second of it.”

“People come into our lives to teach us the things we need to learn about Ourselves” and the people involved in making the BEST Pasifika Leadership Programme a success, have gifted me with the time and wisdom to learn more about myself and how to become a better Leader.

The challenging and interactive sessions really pushed me out of my comfort zone. I also value the wealth of knowledge, tools, techniques that everyone has brought to the table which I too can share with others.”

“As an Educator & Well Being Practitioner I value a holistic view of Successful Leadership. Constant evolution of core values to align with an ever changing professional and personal environment, embedding and accepting change and self discovery.

Inter-disciplinary collaboration between the members of the cohort highlighted an important component of Successful Leadership i.e. sharing the knowledge between each other opened up new learnings and tools which were adaptable to different professional sectors and used for the greater good.

This course taught me new skill sets/strategies and reinforced the need to have a strong disciplined mindset in order for me to be deliberately successful. I endorse the Best Pacific Leadership Programme to any Pacific Island Professional who aspires to lead even more effectively.”

“I believe that given the opportunity, and the right encouragement, anyone can achieve what they dream.

I have worked in the education industry with diverse cultural backgrounds for the past 10 years and have loved every minute of it. Education is at the forefront of achieving your dreams, and I gain personal satisfaction from seeing others succeed.

I am currently a participant of the BEST Leadership Academy Leadership Programme, which is focussed on People Management, Leadership, Strategy, and Change.

Throughout my experiences on the programme, I have not only learned more about others, but more about myself. I have learned my strengths, and areas for improvement, and given the right tools to develop in these areas.

I thoroughly enjoyed learning from Roseann Gedye, our first lecturer, who built our confidence in leadership, and taught us various tools to use whilst managing people. Before starting on the programme, I lacked confidence in public speaking. Through her guidance and constructive feedback, I have greatly improved in this area.

Dr Selina Tusitala Marsh is an amazing Pasifika leader and role model who pushed us to think differently through creativity and poetry.

In our sessions with Professor Brad Jackson, we were privileged to meet other leadership professionals, and were able to experience first hand, other organisations operations and leadership.

Overall, the knowledge and experiences gained through the Best Pasifika Leadership Programme are invaluable to me in my personal and professional life.”
